The Employers' Federation of Ceylon

  • Deepal Wijayaratne

The sudden demise of Deepal was shocking and almost impossible to believe. It has shown us once again that in the midst of life, we are in death.

I have known Deepal as a school boy who was one class junior to me at S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia. I remember Deepal being an active debater in College, who showed his oratorical skills very early in the day.

He always impressed me as a quiet and unassuming guy, who was perceptive and focused on whatever he did.

This publication has been authored by Mr Franklyn Amerasinghe, a former Director General of the EFC, who also subsequently worked for the International Labour Organization as Senior Specialist on Employers Activities. This is Mr Amerasinghe’s 15th publication.

The subject of employee relations is one in which Mr Amerasinghe has been immersed for the last 35 years and in this book he attempts to share some thoughts on a range of issues involved.

It is not only a text book for students and practitioners of industrial relations but also a valuable guide for prospective investors who would like to have an idea in relation to the industrial relations culture and how it has developed in Sri Lanka over the years. Some of the topics discussed have not been touched on by earlier writers of the subject.

The book is available for sale at Rs 1,200/- per copy at the EFC Secretariat.
